Day 3 - Forked Lake Dam to Lost Channel leanto on the Raquette River. Distance 17 miles. Day 4 - Lost Channel to Axton. Distance 13 miles. Day 5 - Axton to Toms Rock leanto on Lower Saranac Lake. Distance 14 miles. Day 6 - Toms Rock
leanto to Saranac Lake Village via the Saranac River. Distance 10 miles. Always leave an area the way it was before you got there - Lets keep the Adirondacks Waterways Clean!! St. Regis Canoe Area The largest designated Wilderness Canoe Area in the Northeast. There are countless day trips traveling from pond to pond including a local favorite, "The Seven Carries Route". Please Click here for Map of area. Salmon River Quite a few canoeable sections in the 5
to 8 mile range. Make sure you get the right river as there are 4 Salmon's in
the Adirondacks.
Saranac Lakes Chain and Saranac River The headwaters of the Saranac River consist of about 40 ponds and lakes around the north end of Upper Saranac Lake. Get a copy of "The Adirondack Canoe Map" which shows these many pond-hopping routes. The three large interconnected lakes - Upper Saranac, Middle Saranac, and Lower Saranac provide numerous opportunities for paddling and camping. A 17 mile canoe trip can be made from Upper Saranac to Lower Saranac. Side trips include Weller Pond and Ampersand Mountain.
